Good morning 🙂
Yet again I am posting this a day late but there was a lot going on yesterday 🙂 some of it was running, some of it was circuit training, some of it was getting completely sidetrcked by reading a book and some of it was processing photos. Those last two are not relevant to this blog, I just added them in so you know there is more to me than exercising 🙂
Anyway, back to the exercise 🙂
I have decided that if (on some days at least) I can get extra exercise in before work or at lunchtimes then a) it wakes you up for the day and 2) it leaves you your evenings free (unless you are already committed to doing something like circuits)
So at lunchtime I went for a run, I completed week 2 day 2 of the c25k and I am definitely improving 🙂 I felt better doing the running the only thing I had more of was tight calves, this could be down to inadequate stretching after Zumba, or wearing heels for the morning before my run which is like walking around on tiptoes. Either way, I need to do more calf stretching between now and my next run.
The timings on this got a bit messed up, because the app is on my phone and I got a test message during the run which caused the app to stall and when I restarted it thinks I ran some of the walks so the run / walk split is off. however, this is the time I was out for, and this is the distance I went…the map bit is definitely right 🙂
I ran the same path that I went on last time, but I went further out of the end before turning round (looking at the map I could have done a loop) there was still a complete lack of killer squirrels, which was good, but I did have an encounter with the hound of the Baskervilles! what it was doing in Sussex I’ll never know but I had to fight it off while it tried to eat me for dinner…..

ok…it was a springer spaniel…and it was on a lead…but it did leap at me and woof quite loudly causing me to leap backwards and making both me and the dog owner jump…apparently he just wanted to say hello
creatures that just want to say hello shouldn’t do it by leaping at you barking!
Anyway…that was me getting sidetracked! Despite the timing mishaps with the c25k app, I have still improved and am actually enjoying running , still finding it hard, but actually looking forward to the next go to see if I can improve even more 🙂
In addition to this productive lunchtime flee from hell hounds, it was Monday, so, of course, it was circuit training night :-D. I was tired, I was quite enjoying reading my book, I really didn’t feel like dragging myself out of the house to train again, but I had arranged to meet Graham there so I had no choice. All that said, I am really glad I went! It was a hard session, 12 stations of: Skipping / kettlebell shoulder press / WP squats / WP Russian twist / side steps / ViPR left, front, right repeat things / DB lunges / DB sit ups with punches / Burpees (:-S) / Wall sit (inc 1 legged wall sit) / press-ups / stability ball back extension.
we did each of these for a minute before moving on to the next one with only as much rest as you can get in the time it takes to walk from one station to the next! The whole circuit was repeated 3 times with about 2 mins rest in between! It was hard work and very strength training heavy. I was pleased about this, it balanced out my earlier run.
What have I learned…I am definitely showing improvement, when I started this there is o way I could hold a wall sit for one minute, let alone incorporate 1 leggedness into it without falling over! I can use the heavier weight plates / dumbells / ViPRs for these exercises all the way through and have (if not more strength) then definitely more determination than some of the others in the class 🙂 this I could not have said a few months back when I felt worse than everyone at everything!
So day 53 complete and definitely feeling positive about it 😀
