Day 73: running and pumping and forgetting I have a bruised knee.

Good evening πŸ™‚

Another Monday, another day of two activities πŸ™‚ Starting with a lunchtime run, I was back at work today so I had to shoehorn my run in between two fun packed sessions of writing technical documents πŸ˜€ Last time I ran, I did week 5 day 1 of the c25k and I didn’t quite manage to run all 3 5 min intervals. I was in two minds about whether to move on or repeat the work out until I could do it properly.

Today I decided to repeat the session. I did week 5 day 1 again…and I am really glad I did!

This is today’s run, the intervals were 5 min run, 3 min walk, 5 min run, 3 min walk, 5 min run with a 5 min warm up and cool down.

I ran all of the run intervals! No unscheduled walking, no stopping nothing πŸ˜€ I was determined to do it and I did!

I forced myself to control my breathing I somehow didn’t have aches in my legs or the arches of my feel and I just kept going! I am so pleased πŸ˜€ (and slightly surprised!)

The stats all look better apart from the overall distance, but I ran quicker on average (due to not slowing to walk pace) I ran further in the run intervals and I walked quicker on average πŸ™‚ I was 300m shorter than the last time but this could be a quirk of the gps (or a quirk of the gps last time) or it could be because I walked slower at the end of my cool-down due to that being quite up hill…who knows. I don’t…and I don’t care…there are so many things that were better about that I am just really pleased with it! I am now less daunted about moving to week 5 day 2 with its 8 min runs πŸ™‚

That was the morning (well lunchtime), the evening was the domain of the Body Pump. It was the body pump class that has replaced my circuits class. I have to say I would rather it be circuits! I like body pump, but there are plenty of other body pump classes and not many other circuits classes. But I went along last night and dragged Graham with me (the friend I do (did) circuits with from Mythago) to try out body pump. I knew what to expect, but Graham was new to the whole thing.

It was better and worse than the last body pump, better because it was at a friendlier gym and people spoke to me. Better because the instructor turned out to be the same one who took pilates on Sunday and she recognised me. Better because I had a friend with me.

Worse because I fell over ice skating and bits of me hurt! I found I have hurt my shoulder…It seemed to loosen off but it made the lifting up tracks (of which there are many) slightly tricky! And the absolute worst thing (which was also the most stupid and my own fault) was when I forgot I had a massively bruised knee and knelt down on it with my full body weight all on that knee…It nearly caused a squawk!

It did mean I looked super enthusiastic as I had to do all my press-ups on my Β toes as I couldn’t kneel…

Good class πŸ™‚ I like the instructor and the other people in the class did not annoy me so that is a definite bonus πŸ™‚ it meant I was not irrationally grumpy. I just need to find a circuits class to do along with it…

Day 72 a definite success and definitely complete πŸ˜€
