Day 88: I ran on a treadmill and I didn’t die or fall down

Ok…the treadmill thing was not the main focus of yesterday’s work out, and I only actually went on it for 4 mins…but It is a pretty big achievement for me given my irrational fear of treadmills…

Yesterdays activity was my weekly PT session and it was awesome!! It was a combination PT session / new program setting session…where I got to do all of my new program plus a load more boxing and some things that I am almost sure Matt Made up to make me look silly…OK no he probably didn’t…but me doing a bear crawl across the floor does make me look silly..however this time I did not fall on my head like I did when I tried it in circuits!

shiny new program :-)
shiny new program πŸ™‚

this is the program we worked out…apparently it is a based on an MMA body conditioning program and we will change it again and make it harder in two weeks…

I have agreed to do this 3 times a week…so I really have to find a way to get up in the mornings to go to the gym.

Now it would seem I have to go on the treadmill every time I go to the gym…every time…soon I will stop being scared of them I am sure, or I will go flying backwards fall over and forever cement the idea in my head that treadmills are evil and should be relegated to a hell dimension along with banananananas! Ok…sorry…I got carried away.

Anyway, the program…It looks easy, and short…but it is deceptive, all of the things are in supersets so I don’t end up standing around too much and the exercises are deceptively hard…they are mostly using TRX and bodyweight, but some weights thrown in there and…I get to do bike sprints and cross trainer sprints…this is pure craziness! But hopefully, good craziness and I will improve and in 2 weeks it will become easier…

Once we had got the bulk of the program sorted we did about 20 mins of fast paced punch and kick combos πŸ™‚ …it was excellent…hard at first but then for some reason my energy returned! then we finished off with core exercises which have also found their way onto my program…I am not sure I approve of a plank where I have to lift my arms up and tap forwards (one at a time of course…otherwise it would be silly!) but it is there, I will do it and hopefully improve my core strength πŸ˜€

Day 88 Complete πŸ™‚

    1. I can go after work πŸ™‚ but if I go in the morning I get to do either a work out class of some sort or something not exercisy in the evening…
3 days at least out of 5 work days I do other things in the evenings…I really want to add morning gyms in…as an extra…unfortunately i only want to add them in when I am not in bed early in a morning! πŸ˜€

  1. To force me out of bed, when I know it will be early in the morning, I drink a tall glass of water right before bed. It wakes me up at the ass crack of dawn and I have to get out of bed for that.

Once i even got up got changed and ready for the gym then went to sleep on the sofa for an hour and then got changed and went to work…I may be beyond hope but I will try the water thing again πŸ™‚

      1. Hmm… I don’t know then. Once I get out of bed, I don’t usually fall asleep. My mind starts moving, and just doesn’t shut up.

When I was in high school, I had 3 alarm clocks that progressively got further away from my bed. Perhaps that could help?

      2. I can top this! I once went to a 6am outdoor bootcamp class, finished it, drove home, got changed out of sweaty clothes, and crawled back into bed, where I slept for 2 more hours. πŸ™‚

  2. Maybe find someone that you can be accountable with– someone who already gets up for morning workouts and you meet up/ check-in with them? The only time I ever consistently worked out in the mornings was when I had someone else to keep me accountable for the first few weeks until it became a habit.
