Day 89 (part 1): today I told myself my run was going to be awesome

And it was!!! πŸ˜€

wed run
Awesome surprising run

look at that!! 4.45km! in 34 mins! average pace was 7.42 min/km… average pace!…that includes the walk intervals!! and there were walk intervals…I planned them in on purpose, I am just not good enough (or my brain is not in the right place) for continuous running.

The last time I ran (not counting Saturday’s colour run or Monday’s disaster) I did week 6 day 2 of c25k and went for 32 mins and went 3.61km! with an average pace of 8.5 min/km

I can’t believe I went so much faster and further! To be honest as I was running, I thought I was struggling…I couldn’t get my breathing pattern right at first, I didn’t figure out until I got back that I was going faster and that was why I was breathing harder.

Excited feet πŸ™‚

I am so excited! I just goes to prove a lot of this is in my mind! I felt good running, I had my music and there is nothing like a lot of 80s cheesy music to make you feel better! I set off in a good mood and I guess it really helped!

I have decided to abandon the c25k…not giving up…and definitely continuing running, but I have decided to set my own running intervals! I found an interval trainer app where I can write my own and coupled with the plethora of information there is out there I am going to set my own interval training, this way I can continue to gradually build up my running intervals and reduce my walking without stopping intervals altogether!

I promise to continue to push myself and improve! πŸ˜€

On the subject of pushing myself to improve and capitalising on the success of Saturday I am thinking of joining my local Park Run (info here)Β I am hoping this will give me the incentive to keep improving…I will have to improve so as not to be last! It sounds great, it is free and timed so you can see how you are doing πŸ™‚ and there are other people to keep you going. Honestly it is the other people bit that worries me the most…

Has anyone done one of these? What do you think of it?

  1. YEAH SAM!! Wicked cool! Whatever works for you..walking intervals, etc. do what feels right. And your results are great regardless. I’m going into week 7 Day 1, which means it’s all straight-through running from here on in. The one on Monday (22 mins) nearly caused me a coronary, so I’m taking my time before attempting the next one. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe. πŸ™‚

    1. πŸ˜€ I was so pleased πŸ™‚ I am going to stick with intervals for now but increase them so I am doing more running overall for the same amount of walking πŸ™‚ if today is anything to go by it works!

You will be great…but it sounds so hard! I think my brain won’t let me do that yet even though me legs might do!

  2. Just found your blog. You are doing great!
If you haven’t signed up for Parkrun yet, do it! I did my first one the day before my friend’s wedding in August, complete with hen night sashes, and was hooked. I took my son for his first parkrun 4 weeks ago and we completed number 4 (with his 3rd PB!) last Saturday. I think he’s hooked now too. Parkrun is great because you can go at your own pace. We started off at the back but last week we were 7th from last by doing 1 minute run, 1 minute walk. I think we are going to increase the run interval to 90 seconds this week.
    Keep going.
