A few weeks ago (on Day 87) I wrote a post entitled “Awful Running Awesome Pump” well, this post could just as easily have been called exactly the same thing. However I didn’t want to be seen to repeat myself, and it wasn’t worthy of a sequel!
First the run…
well…I say run, there was no real running involved! There was some slightly quicker than walking moving of legs in a sustained stumble and there was some walking! Mostly, there was walking and even that hurt! I mentioned yesterday that Saturday’s processing extravaganza hurt my calves and that I spent Sunday fixing them…well it turns out they were not as fixed as I thought. On top of that I made a slightly stupid choice and learned something about my weird feet. As my calves still felt tight, I decided to run in my compression socks…this I will freely admit helped my calves. But my feet were in excruciating horrible pain in the arches! I know why too…
I have odd shaped feet!
they are like that…little wedges…(ok they are at the same level..my legs and arms are more the same length than that picture implies!) they are really flat at the bottom and really tall at the top, which means the they are easily squashed by shoes and sock with elasticy bits round the middle… and I think my compression socks did the same thing and It was made worse because my running shoes have good arch support so there was too much… so compression on calves good, compression on feets bad! Whatever the reason…my run was horrible because my feet hurt so much that even walking was tricky!
anyhow, onwards and upwards…horrible run it my have been but it was better exercise than sitting about 🙂
Now for Body Pump…
It was new release day! New releases are always harder…maybe it is only in your head because you don’t know what to prepare yourself for, or maybe it is because you are doing slightly different movements…what ever the reason…new releases are harder.
I loved it!
and I hated it!
That is what it is like with body bump, some of it was so hard and I wanted to stop, and some of it was deceptively easy until it was suddenly impossible! But all of it makes you feel better the moment you have completed that section 🙂 I know that makes no sense in the absolute sense of the word, but if you have done body pump you will know what i mean…If you haven’t done body pump, you could try it and see what I mean, or just take my word that it is hard work but worth it 🙂
All in all…I like the new release, but the music is terrible! I am sure body pump music used to be better than this!
But aside from the terrible music, It was a really good work out, and I found myself with more energy than I expected after my terrible run…I even managed the squats without feeling like I was going to fall down!
In a much better way than I initially thought Day 108 complete 😀
