Day 110: (part 1) on the up

Good afternoon πŸ™‚

For the third day in a row I went for a run, this one at lunch time, and for the second day in a row I improved. Admittedly I only improved over Monday and I would have probably cried if I had got worse than Monday! I am still slightly confused as to why I am suddenly going slower than I was a week and a half ago, I can only assume that my legs are tired or possibly (in today’s case) getting lost and having to stop and look at the map spoiled my pace…

anyway…It felt like a much better run πŸ˜€ I got tired legs but not horribly painful legs. I expect tired legs so this is a positive! I recorded the run with two apps for now, considering my poor record with them I thought I would try out two and decide which suits me best! I am still trying Runkeeper, Β and today I tried Strava again.

Strava

Runkeeper

I like both of the apps so far…they both seem comparable distance wise (although completely different to the distance you get if you plot the route out beforehand but that is for a different blog…)

They both give splits and timings and whatnot and with a bit of playing about with settings I am sure either one will do what I want…

I was really pleased with todays run, the run sections actually felt like running, I felt faster and stronger than I did yesterday which is a definite positive point. I felt that the run was better than the initial glance at the stats suggested. But further investigation lets me understand a bit about what is going on.

a) I faff about too much at the beginning!

b) getting lost and pausing apps really does mess things up (it was just before 3km)

c) I really need to work on consistency but i suspect this will come.

As I said, I was pleased with today, 3.8km in one lunchtime is not too shabby…

I was thinking while I was running today, I started the c25k program in January (before I started again in June) and when I did my first ever run, I think I went about 2k if that, I struggled to complete the 1 min run intervals and I hardly moved ran faster than I walked! When I started again in June I went nearly 3k at the beginning and could just about manage the proscribed 1 min intervals…and now…I can do 4 km (when I don’t faff) in a lunchtime, I can run for 8-10 mins 3 times in a row with only a short amount of walking and I am actually beginning to feel like I am getting somewhere! I hadn’t thought about it like that before, I keep thinking about how it is still hard…and it is, but it is hard because I am doing more!

One of these days I will be good at this πŸ˜€ day 110 1/2 done…I’ll be back after the stick clashing πŸ™‚

      1. I’m serious! You are running long intervals now, where only a few months ago you couldn’t go more than a minute. That is awesome! Be proud of how far you’ve come chickie!

  1. That is a whole lot of improvement there. Thanks for showing the apps side by side. I just downloaded a new running app today. I’ll let you know how it goes. This one is a bit unconventional and looks way more fun πŸ™‚

    1. πŸ™‚ thank you
recording things with different apps is interesting, they all seem to do things in a slightly different way. once I find the one that suits me best I will stick to it so I can make the whole thing more comparable…
