Good morning 🙂
Ok…It was rainy, there was body pump, but It wasn’t really all that mad, unless you consider going out on a rainy, foggy night at 8:15pm to lift stuff up and put it down again in time to music as mad…
I will leave that up to you…
Anyhow, that was yesterday, I set out intrepidly through the fog and rain to attend my body pump class (ok…it is actually only 5 mins down the road but shhh!)
Body pump, was, well…body pump, I am getting used to this release now, I am getting better at lunges but still not happy with them. But that is ok, it wouldn’t be as worthwhile if it were easy!
Now, I have spoken (gone one…) about the squats, and the lunges and the triceps, but one of the tracks I am least decided about in this release is the biceps track…I just can’t decide if I like it or not. I normally quite like the bicep track, don’t know why but I do, but this time I am not so sure.
The bicep track in this release is all done with dumbells, which is not in its self a bad thing, but it does present me with my first problem… The only dumbells available in the body pump room at the gym are 1, 2 & 3 kg. I started with the 3kg dumbells, so I have nowhere to go and it is reaching the time where I am wanting to up my weights, but I can’t which mildly annoys me.
The track uses a combination of Hammer Curls (top picture) and turning bicep curls (bottom picture), both half way and full range. In theory this should present a greater range of exercises and movement than using the bar, but for some reason I just find this track dull. I find myself wanting it to be over, not because it is hard, but because I just don’t want to do any more hammer curls! If anyone out there does body pump, tell me what you think… am I the only one that thinks this?
Still..despite the dull biceps track, the workout was a good one 😀
Day 143 Complete 😀

I meant to get back to you on this last Friday. I ended up attending all 45 min classes last week, which *should* mean no bis/tris tracks, but the instructor on Friday said she plans to alternate – with one week shoulders/lunges and one week bis/tris for the 45 min (since you can’t do all tracks in the abbreviated class. So Friday we did the bicep track. They actually instructed us to use the plates (so you’ve got your choice of the 1kg, 2.5 kg or 5kg plates to use).
Like you, I found the track to be long and repetitive, and I missed using the bar. I like when they mix it up (like in the current chest track, where they combine bar and plates) — it breaks things up and keeps things moving along (at least in my mind).
Anyway – the good news is, according to my instructor yesterday, they’re going to start moving over to new release next week! yay!
This lunge track is the worst. Even the 5.5 minute squat track from a couple months ago wasn’t as hard as this lunge track. brutal! My ass better look f’ing awesome after this, I tell you. 🙂
hahah! I agree wholeheartedly about the lunge track!!
I might try using the plates next week, but I find the 5kg ones hard to hold with my stupid child hands 😉 as we have the weights that look like solid discs not the ones that have holes in around the edge which act as handles.
It is repetitive though isn’t it…I like the dumbells but I agree mixing it up like the chest track would work much better!
yeay for the new release, our instructor says she is going to a workshop to start learning it towards the end of November so fingers crossed it will be soon over here too! 😀
Our plates are the same, Sam, solid. I use the 2.5’s because biceps is one of my weakest areas. I can see the 5’s being very unwieldy to handle. Hopefully the new release finds its way to you soon!
one of my other gyms (they are all the same membership I am not that fancy…) has plates that have slots cut in that are much easier to carry around, they are multi coloured too (not that that actually changes anything…but they look pretty)
fingers crossed for the new release… 🙂
Pretty matters! 🙂
😀 yes it does 😀
