Day 246 & 247: Pyramids and Pilates

Good morning…still playing catch up…

Day 246 Saturday

sleep smileBy Saturday it transpired that although I was feeling better, my energy levels were still very low, and I ended up spending a considerable amount of the day asleep…which was an annoying waste of a day, but I probably needed it!

I decided that a bodyweight routine at home was the order of the day, I didn’t want to derail the getting better thing…so I did:

A pyramid circuit (1 – 10 reps) Β of Jumping jacks, squats, press ups. 3 x 10 bridges, Pilates single leg raise, superman raises.
I have to confess I have forgotten the exact details of what else I did…I blame residual illness and diminished mental capacity! I do remember that when it was over I attempted to get my powerball working to work on lower arm and grip strength for climbing…I was less than successful however, I will keep trying and keep you posted! (they are slightly gimmicky…but fairly effective if you can get them going…)

Day 247 Sunday

Sunday, as is traditional, started with pilates πŸ™‚ It was a good session using some resistance bands and some weights but mainly traditional bodyweight exercises. The class involved a mixture of the usual exercises plus on unusual one.

it did not go this well...
it did not go this well…

I might have mastered the open leg rocker, and the v-sit hold, but the shoulder stand was another matter altogether…

I did get my legs up…straight more or less…but despite the instructions about keeping core tight and holing straight…I couldn’t help but feel like my boobs and tummy were attempting to smother me! I went with the level 2 option the last few times and attempted to control my legs on their descent with my core…rather than flopping down due to gravity…

Following class, I decided I would go for a walk, I knew I was planning to spend the rest of the day studying and wanted to do a little more activity first, so I headed to Jubilee Fields, the local “Trim Trail” and sports ground for a little wander.

I don’t know why my trouser legs are different lengths…
It was a pleasant, if windy walk, it is hard to see in the picture but it was very windy and thus pretty cold on this walk, however, it was nice to get some fresh (very fresh) air.

I walked for half an hour, and went 2 km… I also attempted a pull up on the bars of the trim trail…what I managed was jumping up and slowing my descent down a little with my arms…I guess I will stick with the half pull ups I do in the gym for a little longer… πŸ˜€
