I hadn’t run at lunchtime on a work day all year…until Wednesday!
I finally channeled my willpower enough to get off my bum and go for a run rather than a walk at lunchtime on Wednesday π It was a pretty good run too π
I don’t have enough time during lunch to complete one of my 10k app training runs, so I just made it up instead. I did a Zombie supply run as I forgot to download the new mission before setting out and just went for it π
I have noticed that when I do this “make it up as you go along” type of running, I go faster, but I don’t pace myself well…I run for long intervals the first couple, and then get very short and choppy in the middle and longer again towards the end… I have no idea why this is…
You can see it in the splits though, I am slow, get faster, then slooow then faster again…I think I might need to work on consistency….
however, for now I am just pleased that I managed to get out for a run in my lunch break…and am also wishing I had a longer lunch break so I could do more…
You know what else I did on Wednesday don’t you…
yes you do…it was dancing π
It was another excellent Mythago practice where we got to go over dances we learned last week as well as dance some old favourites π
Yes we do stop for tea in the middle…we are British you know… it is like cricket, we have to have regular tea!
Except that I don’t like tea (shhh don’t tell the Queen) and generally don’t have a biscuit…
we don’t always have buns…it was Dan’s birthday so it was allowed!
anyway…we did do dancing as well as tea drinking (or not) and these are the dances I participated in:
Our Henry (x2), Sticky dance (x2 + walk), Standing Stones, Triskele, Maiden Castle (in a brand new place), Earth Mother (x2), Avebury Ring, Fanny Frail.
all in all Β a pretty awesome Wednesday π
and…of course, day 257 complete π
I’m envious of the outdoor running. I love how I get to see what my body is really capable of, versus the nonsense mindgames I let my insecurities + the treadmill play on me. (i.e. I am convinced I can’t run at faster than x speed on the treadmill, so I set it there and go; if I punch in a higher speed, I quickly dial it back to what I know I can do.) It’s frustrating. I wrote about this back in July, I think – when I first started using the running apps to track my outdoor runs, and saw that I run way faster outdoors. So silly.
Anyway, I finished Wk 2 days 2 and 3 last week – so I’m planning to start the week 3 runs this week. As I’ll be away in New York City from tonight until Thursday night, I *may* try an outdoor run (they’re supposed to get some milder temps while I’m visiting). Wish me luck!

ooh definitely good luck!! Outdoor running is so much better!
I have treamill mind games, I run for about 3 mins before I become convinced I am going to fall over and slide off the back…so outside is good for me!!
we are getting much better temps now…about 10-14ΒΊ during the day this week which is perfect for running!
I will be doing week 3 day 1 tomorrow π
