did I tell you about my potential new dancing shoes?
yes, I did…I went for a walk in them last friday…
Well today was the day I tried them out at dance practice π

before that happened however, I went on my customary lunchtime amble around the local area. As I was walking along and looking around me, I was beset on all sides by little birds π
well..beset is probably a bit strong…I saw 4 robins and 1 nuthatch in the space of 2 mins which is quite a lot π and nuthatches are very pretty so they made me smile π
I was also musing on the fact that I now walk continuously for 40-45 mins every lunchtime, unless it is pouring down with rain and that I really enjoy it. I have always enjoyed walking, but before this year was always contend to sit about in my lunch break and read a book, now I walk in my lunch break and listen to a book…awesome multitasking π
and now for the dancing…and the shoes…

They are awesome…and, I discovered yesterday, they are danceable in!
Although…they are going to take a little bit of getting used to!!
but I am pleased, so far with the success of my new show experiment…we will get the proper resultsΒ after their first dance out, which, I think, will be on Saturday!
Saturday will be Horsham Day of Dance (which is my local day of dance) which should be excellent!
It also meant that last night was spent practicing dances that we will be doing on Saturday. As it is a day of dance, we move around and dance in different places, alternating with different sides so we are not doing a story. So all the dances are stand a lone ones, but it is worth practicing ones we haven’t done in a while!

It was a good practice last night
we danced a few dances that we haven’t done in a while, the picture shows the willy whacking dance which has a real name of “changeling” and led to the quote of the evening from Dan who as he walked off after finishing the dance, just said…
“Judith Whacked my Willy”
I must point out that despite all insinuations to the contrary…willy in this instance was represented by a stick…
I was brave and practiced two dances in places I am not used to dancing them in…and no disasters befell us!
Shock…horror… change can be tolerated!!
So the dances I danced (some in new shoes, some not) were:
Maiden Castle,
King of the Fairies
Raggle Taggle Gypsy (x3)
Parma Ham
Our Henry
Star of the County Down
Standing Stones
Fanny Frail
and we also did some practicing for the procession…
no…it is not just walking…
we do certain sets of stepping and figures periodically when called upon by the Kaye. So it is worth practicing it for those that have not processed before π
Tricky thing to do in a village hall, but it all worked out π
All in all a very good evening…to be topped of by 170 squats…which I meant to do before I went dancing…but forgot, so at 11pm I did day 7 of my squat challenge…which was:
80 Standard Squats (30 + 30 + 20)
80 Plie Squats (40+40)
10 low pulse
and then…
Day 320 Complete π
Willy whacking π Worth it just for that π

Willy whacking has nothing on Spank the Monkey. That’s my forever favourite.
p.s. I was SO glad to get a rest day today after Day 7 of squat challenge. π

You won’t soon forget, I’ll bet. π
Reminds me of the crazy road trip last summer where I was hitting the gym/treadmill at the hotel after an 18 hour driving day — or the 2am pushups/planks after my job interview and delayed flight in NYC last December. π

Funnily enough I thought of your 2am planks while I was doing my squats yesterday! π
