Today I tried something new š
not at first, well… it was quite new, it was the first time this year I have managed to get up and do exercise on a monday morning…but that was not the newest thing I tried today. I’ll come to that later!
The day started with Insanity max 30: Cardio Challenge.
This is max 30’s fitness indicator, it takes the place of the fit test from the original insanity, but is a full on crazy cardio work out (as I think I mentioned before…). As with all the work outs in this program, you measure your max out time, the time at which you can’t carry on without taking a tiny breather.

Last week, on this work out, I maxed out at 6:44 mins.
Today I maxed out at 7:23 mins š
woohoo!! improvement!! this pleases me a lot! It felt no easier, but somehow I was better. I think that is the point š
so that was before work!
(I promise I will do a proper review of insanity max 30 this week)
Lunchtime was taken up with a walk, the rest of the office are finally recovering from stupid flu illness, so I actually got company on my walk today which was nice š
we went 2.6km in 30 mins more or less, it was a nice brisk break from being in the office!
Ok, so what about the new thing I hear you cry..
yes, i can practically hear it from here!
Today, I tried yoga!
No, not yoga from a dvd, not yoga from an app on my phone, not yoga in my pyjamas…
actual yoga, in a yoga class, with a yoga teacher, and other people!
A yoga teacher who calls herself a Yogi no less…this was real yoga, with candles and breathing and thinking about chakras and everything!

I suspended my inner cynic, and went along with a friend from work to a yoga class being run by a woman called myra who had a very very yoga voice.
(you know the yoga voice i mean!)
I have to admit I enjoyed myself!
I was so pleased to have another person to go with or I am fairly sure I would have chickened out! But once I got there, I enjoyed myself.
It wasn’t really hard, it was a beginners course, but then again, I am a beginner…
I could feel it working, I felt more balanced (physically at least) than I have for a while, and here was definitely stretching, and strength involved… you know, the things yoga is known for š
I had a moment of wobble when the line “this is good for stretching your kidneys”
my kidneys?
really?
really….?
OK, so I couldn’t shut my cynic up for the whole time…and I wasn’t 100% sold on the things that some of the poses were supposed to do…like increase determination and such like however, I could feel them stretching muscles and increasing flexibility so despite my cynicism, I could feel the benefits of the practice…
hehehe “practice” get me sounding like a yoga type already!
All in all, it was a worthwhile experiment, and the point of this course is to improve so I will have to see what happens š
maybe one day I will progress beyond panda!

Look at you with your yoga practice! I giggled my way through this post (at least the yoga section). Nicely done!

š i am glad. I am not sure i will ever manage to be 100% serious about yoga, but it is good for me!
You never know though, give me a couple of weeks and i might feel a stretch in my kidneys!
