Good evening π
Here we have a summary of the first week (and two days) of the rebooted version of my 365 project. It has been a good week which has had two pretty dominant themes, bears and DOMS!

Did I mention that I fed bears on my birthday? Well I did and it was awesome! and a side effect of bear feeding was lots of walking, and some chasing of a 7 yr old nephew π

This was nice, I liked bedtime yoga it is relaxing and good not harsh and extra bendy!

Today was walking, faster than recently, lunchtime walk, good on many counts π not least of which was I saw a fairly random set of rocks reclining on a garden chair in a river…

today was PT day, a day of squats, lots of squats, front squats, back squats, sumo squats… many squats! there was also some kettlebell swinging and to top it all off a set or 6 of sled pushing and pulling π not only was this awesome, but it was the first leg training session in about 2 months and only about the 3rd since christmas due to two blooming annoying leg injuries! I could tell, from the end of the session and the shakiness of my legs, that I was going to really really ache!

good grief I was not wrong about the aches!! I had the sort of DOMS where I dreaded transitioning from standing to sitting, or sitting to standing, or going up stairs, or down stairs, or walking… It was the worst DOMS i have had Β in a long time!! Awesome though as I meant I had been working π and I even managed to walk at lunchtime and hobble my way through 2 hours of dancing practice…I forgot to photograph the dancing though…

Thursday brought much more DOMS…my legs hurt a good deal more than I was expecting!! and this meant walking, slow walking but still walking for about 35 mins… It deefinitley counted because moving my legs at all was a booming struggle!! It had the added bonus of letting me see a little wren hopping around π

More yoga! I said I was going to incorporate it and I have been, my legs had recovered about 75% of their functionality after the leg day episode π and I decided to work on improving my flexibility and did the yoga for beginners session that I did way back in January! I have to say, although easier, sitting cross legged is still not my comfort position of choice! Definitely improvement since the first time through though π

Yes, I am trying running *again*… So far I don’t hate it. I was being super cautious as the last two attempted runs this year have been closely followed by some form of super tight leg muscle / injury. This meant I went right back to basics and pretended I had not run before, I started with week 1 day 1 of my 10k trainer which involved 1 min run intervals. It was really quite doable, but not super easy, and my leg took an interval or two to decide whether or not it was going to rebel…luckily it decided to loosen off and fingers crossed it is still ok!

today was more walking, it was an 8km walk ( well two 4km walks) It was lovely to get out in the countryside with two lovely friends and just walk. I go quicker with other people too…or maybe it is just because it is not mid work day… whatever, it was an awesome walk along the eponymous Downs link path π
and that was the first week (+2 days) I look forward to bringing you the next 51 weeks of awesome activity π
You fed a bear?! Oh my that is very brave! Although they look cuddly their mouths are sort of big π Some lovely pictures here and I spy some super duper footwear also! Well done with the running and the yoga, very impressive. I feel exhausted just reading this haha! But you are looking just fab so the hard work is paying off π

I fed a bear!! I was behind a fence but he and his friend came up and took peanuts right out of our fingers!! They were super gentle!! But massive they were massive!! We also gave them their breakfast, the have apple and carrot which you hide all around their enclosure so they have to forage!! They also get jam or marmalade π π
Thank you π I have decided that exercise everyday works for me so I am giving it another go π it makes me actually do things π

That sounds just brilliant!! I love that they were really gentle – not even Terry is gentle at feeding time π Imagine them having jam and marmalade too – just like Paddington!
It clearly works for you. I have started doing a teeney bit of pilates, just at home. I am very un-bendy and have really short, stubby leg muscles so I am hoping it will help stretch me out a bit π

I was so excited when I found out about the marmalade π

I need something quite low impact due to ankle and knee injuries from my youth and pilates seems to suit me quite nicely!

It is excellent m, it is really good for strength, especially core strength and it is hard despite being low impact π

What an awesome first 9 days of 365! Great job, you! (And I can certainly attest to the fact that you walk fast with others. I know this because people tell me (usually in a complaining manner) that I walk too fast. You didn’t complain at all, and I know I didn’t adjust my pace. π

And I was in new rocks that day π
I don’t know why, when I am on my own, I just revert to ambling!!
When I am with others it is often me setting the pace too, it makes no sense
