Well, the January challenges anyway…as I don’t think the universe will let me have a redo for the whole month…
Anyway…my Janathon and my 31 days of yoga fell by the wayside a little… and by a little, I mean a lot… there have been some extenuating circumstances involving some crazy stuff, which I am not going to go into, and I got hit by The Cold!
you know The Cold…the one that is going around that comes with such a bad sore throat that you think you have regrown your tonsils just so you can have tonsillitis…
Yes I know…it sounds like a bucket of excuses…but it isn’t…and I haven’t been idle, I have still gymmed and danced and walked, I just haven’t followed a rigorous Β every day plan…
look…here are some things I have done…
Hehe sorry about all the selfies…only I am not really sorry because they are actually good for self esteem and suchlike!
Ok, time for the positive… 3 years ago, even last year probably, not completing this every day challenge would have me worrying about failing, it would have me apologising on here and worrying about losing all the fitness I have built up. However I am not doing any of that.
I have realised that I have come so far in this lifestyle change that a “failure” to do yoga every day or to post on FB in the Janathon group is not going to derail me. I am not going to lose what I have gained just by taking two rest days in a row…especially if they are rest days due to illness!
I am still going to go to the gym and walk and dance and generally be active because it is part of me…it is not what I do it is who I am. I genuinely love it too much to just stop!
I don’t need 30 day challenges to keep me on track, that doesn’t mean I won’t do any ever again because I genuinely think some of them are beneficial… I just don’t rely on them any more π
That being said, I am going to restart the Yoga challenge because I really believe yoga will do me good!
Look at me…I developed a grown up attitude O_O when did that happen!!
Oh and in other news…I started a new blog… one full of the adventures of our little red VW van…so apparently i am a travel blogger now too…
Go look and follow me!! (shameless plug…sorry)

You really have come a long way on your fitness journey! I think it is incredibly inspirational and brilliant that you can have a few ‘off’ weeks and not get disheartened. I sympathise with you about The Cold – I had it just before Christmas and seriously considered actually dying at one point. Hope you are feeling better π

I am feeling better…It is an awful cold, and my throat hurt so much I actually googled whether tonsils could regrow!!
this new attitude is fairly recent…even this time last year I would probably have panicked about it!

I am glad you are feeling better. Can they re-grow, do you know? I’ve still got mine of you need to borrow some π
You are remarkably less panicky than last year, I think! Also you have an even more amazing collection of leggings, which I am always pleased to see.

Apparently they can’t… so that is good π
I wouldn’t have worn so many of my crazy leggings last year either! all this calm is unexpected…but good, must be a side effect of a high cabinet office…no room for panicking there!!

Yes! Or it might be the gin. I find that often has a very calming effect π

Yes that is true…it could very well be the gin π

What a very grown up way of responding to the situation! Very proud of you. I have had several circumstances which have similarly derailed my yoga revolution participation. Like you, I’m committed to restarting it because I was truly enjoying it. Things are very crazy at the moment with a new role at work and a crisis at home. And I’m adult enough to know where my priorities lie. Not that my health isn’t a priority, but sometimes the focus needs to shift a bit, like now. I will be back to it in no time, I’m sure.

that’s exactly it, priorities do shift a little bit sometimes, it is not like health and fitness stops being a priory it is just that sometimes other things have to be dealt with…
neither one of us has come this far to just be derailed completely by a set back in a 30 day challenge!
I have to say, I am mildly surprised by my grownup attitude…maybe they appear when you turn 40…
