But I ran anyway…at lunchtime, in the midday heat like a crazy english person.
But I went to the gym first so I am going to tell you about that, then the run…
so the gym…well…it was hot there too, but not tooooo hot and they have big fans.
the whirly blowy kind not large people who are really enthusiastic about the gym. Although they might have those too now I think about it…
anyway…
This morning, at 7am, I was running late for the gym, and so was Sarah, because of various reasons. So our gym session was a little shorter than normal but we still managed to shoehorn a balanced workout in…somehow…
Yes… the pictures are accurate… I voluntarily used a viking press… this is a machine so heavy and awkward even with no weights on that it took two of us to adjust the height setting and at one point we thought it was stuck O_O
basically…the viking press is good training to be able to do this:
This is what we did:
3×10 squats at 50kg in a superset with 3×10 rows at 40kg
3×5 viking press (at whatever weight it is with nothing extra…probably at least 700kg…well maybe not but still…) in super set with 3 x 10 chest fly machine at number 5 (oddly the plates on the machines at the gym have no weights on just numbers which don’t seem to actually represent anything…)
And that was all before work!!
Later that day…
During my lunchbreak in fact… I decided that despite the fact that it was 26ΒΊ or 27ΒΊ outside, and I had no food for lunch, that it was a good idea to go for a run…
It wasn’t the best idea I have ever had… but actually it wasn’t as bad as I thought… I was slower than the last few runs, but but didn’t suffer quite as badly as I expected.
anyway…I had to run because if I can’t force myself to go out running in less than ideal conditions there is no point in my even considering entering a half marathon…
despite what it felt like…I did not burst into flames!!
day 9, (part 1) done π
Always jealous of people who can go for runs on their lunch break, such a great way to fit in a bit of fitness! Nice post!

Thanks π
It is a bit of a squeeze fitting it in really in a 45 min lunch break but as you say it is a good way to get a bit of exercise in π

I might be…
I am only about 75% convinced that I should do one…
I thought the gifs seemed appropriate…although I may have spent more time than I should have don googling “superhero car lift gif”

You have plenty of time to get ready for one say next spring, but you can always change your mind if you reeeeally don’t feel ready.
I imagine there were a lot of options! I googled “Viking press” and found a lot of photos of strongman competitions…

yes that is true…I am probably more convinced than 75% really as i have already made a mind map time line for the training…
yes, viking presses are very much a strong man thing π which is probably why the machines on their own are so blooming heavy!

Well done on the lunchtime run. It was unpleasantly warm this morning at 7:15, don’t think I could find the will power to do it at midday!

I don’t know where I got it from…
there is an outside chance that I found extra will power because I could write it on here if I did it… it is a strange system but it seems to work…
