PWG Day 9: this may actually be insanity…

Well, this heatwave isn’t abating at all is it! I know…how British, talking about the weather, but this is so unusual for the UK that I am telling you about it!

Taking into account the unusual heat, it seemed sensible to go to the gym (a currently unairconditioned industrial unit) in the morning before it got too hot. OK…I actually went in the morning, because it was Tuesday, it was PT and PT has been on a Tuesday morning at 7am since records began (almost…I checked, my first PT session on this blog was in the evening, but shortly after that they became morning things).

Yesterday morning I had PT, it was excellent! I was fully awake which is unusual for a morning and seemed to have both energy and enthusiasm! Which is a good thing because very soon I was doing Deadlift / benchpress supersets… these are hard work even when your trainer doesn’t decide that the last set should be a burnout set… which apparently means do lots of reps at a lower weight until you can’t move your arms / want to kill him πŸ™‚

Honestly I wanted to kill him when the phrase “do as close to 30 reps as possible” came out if his mouth! I did what I was told though…and as close to 30 bench presses as possible turned out to be 21 + 3 half assisted reps!

we also did, facepulls and lat pulldowns and trx presses πŸ™‚ It was all ok though because deadlifts were involved πŸ˜€

Look there he is all smiley because I had to do multiple sets and he avoided death πŸ˜€

At lunchtime there was the now customary walk, which didn’t seem to progress my quest any further. I met a cat guarding marking a path which is obviously for future questing. I tried to entice him into conversation but he disappeared!

The bit of the day which really was insanity, was…well…Insanity. I did the day’s insanity workout at 10:30pm when I got home from my pottery class and after I have fed some hungary cats.

Firstly, this is far too late to be insanity-ing! Secondly it was too hot in my house to be insanity-ing!! I nearly melted into a puddle! The other slight complication was the small tortoiseshell kitten-cat who decided that running around my legs while I was jumping around would be a good idea! Still, as hot and hazardous as it was, I did Insanity Pure Cardio and I didn’t die!

I look quite cheerful in that after Insanity picture too…which is proof in its self that I am actually a little insane πŸ˜€

  1. I have a suggestion regarding quest cat – I think you need to find the object that you have to combine with the cat in order to trigger the next phase of said quest πŸ˜‰

      1. You could be right….but my suggestions in no particular order are: milk, pilchards, chicken and an A4 sheet of paper πŸ˜‚

Ps: I’m getting rained on on my walk, typically 😐

  2. You do look cheerful, don’t you?! You also look really, really well and healthy and glow-y. You genuinely look so much better than even last week! Not that you don’t always look amazing πŸ™‚ It’s like some tension or angst has dropped out of your face. (This doesn’t sound nearly as complimentary as I mean it – sorry! You would think as a writer I would be able to patch together some decent words for my favourite friend…) Speaking of faces – what in the name of satan’s trousers is a facepull?! Please tell me you are not lifting weights with your face! Because that will not help!! Questing will help, definitely πŸ˜€

    1. I think the glow-y came from the exceptionally hot sweaty state I was in πŸ˜‚
I totally take that as a compliment!! I feel better and happier and more warrior goddess-y already so I am pleased it shows 😁😁
A face pull is thankfully not done with your face…it is where you hold the ends of a cable machine up at face level and pull them towards your face… coincidentally I often pull faces while doing it!! πŸ˜ƒ
Questing is fun, although I think all the quest creatures are having a break due to the heat!!

      1. It is definitely glow and not sweat! I can just see the warrior goddess there again and it makes me happy too πŸ™‚
Face pull still sounds a bit awful. Be careful of your face! I’m glad you are the Warrior Goddess and I am the Warrior Goddess side kick. I have had an idea. There needs to be an entry-level version of Insanity for lazy cricket-types like me. To ease us into it. It should be called Mildly Unhinged. I would definitely do that πŸ™‚ You could invent it!! πŸ˜€
Poor quest creatures. I don’t blame them. It’s even too hot to go geocaching, let alone a full on quest…

      2. I am so glad you can see her 😁 I am so glad I found her again!!
A Warrior Goddess and the Prime Minister!! We make an excellent duo!!

I love the idea of Mildly Unhinged!! I should do an Instagram video series of that name 😁😁 it is officially a Good Idea!!

I don’t blame the quest creatures either… i think geocaching is probably related to questing… it is too hot for either!!

      3. Yeah! Warrior Goddess and the PM! Sounds like it should be a British super hero comic!! πŸ˜€
I think you would be brilliant doing videos and encouraging others and a slightly less intense version of Insanity could really get people started with fitness!
We really should go geocaching one day πŸ™‚ When it isn’t so hot, obviously.

      4. It would make an excellent superhero comic 😁
I would like to do videos, except I always look a little shifty on film… I will probably be ok as long as it is exercise and I don’t have to look concerned at all…
I’d love for us to go geocaching 😊 I have found exactly two geocaches ever! I keep forgetting to look for them!

      5. ‘Shifty’ – haha! That’s so funny! I think you should definitely do the videos – wear the superhero leggings!
I know what you mean, I always think about them too late. I have to purposefully set aside geocaching time or I might just wander into a pub by mistake.

      6. I will definitely wear the superhero leggings if exercise videos ever become a thing 😁😁
Wandering to a pub is a definite possibility! I normally remember I should have geocached just after I get back from a walk!!
Another if my blog friends Methalda is the queen of geocaching as far as I know!! She has recently found her 2000th 😱
