Day 1 was yesterday, I took my intention to reboot the project and fight for myself and my life and my fitness rather literally and I signed up for a body combat class.
For those of you who are not in the know about group exercise classes, this is one from the Les Mills collection of classes, it is a sort of exercise class franchise where you buy training and the rights to teach and they give (sell) you classes that you have to teach in a certain way with all the choreography / routines etc…

If you click on it, it will take you to the website where it makes all of the same outrageous claims as any other fancy fashionable group exercise class / exercise program… to be honest I would take most of them with a pinch of salt…however it is not bad and based on kickboxing (et al) and is therefore quite fun.
And after all the best exercise is one you enjoy because you are more likely to put in more effort and keep doing it…
It might seem like an odd choice for the first step into more challenging cardio since having a broken ankle, but my theory was, it was a controlled environment with an instructor to keep an eye on me and give me more ankle friendly alternatives to the jumping up and down portions of the class…
It was a pretty good theory too 🙂 I did the whole thing with a few ankle friendly modifications and It was a pretty good workout. It was a challenge, even in its low impact version…possibly more of a challenge than I expected because I have been in a period of enforced inactivity…
Whatever the reason…it was a good step back into the land of warrior goddessing!!
It is not as good as real kickboxing but considered purely as a cardio workout it is a good class to go to. It also had the advantage of not making me angry… It did make me chuckle mind you… there is a definite lean towards women in the class, and a definite lack of actual fighting spirit in most of them… however, whatever works for the individual is good 😀 none of them get warrior goddess status though!!
😀
This sounds like a lot of fun and the perfect way to launch back into Warrior Goddessing! Those are some serious leggings, too. I like those very much. Keep an eye on the naughty ankle, though 🙂

It was much more fun than I expected!
I went to Body Combat at a different leisure centre a few years ago and it was full of terrible women! This one wasn’t like that thankfully!
I am glad you like my robot leggings 😊 I like them a lot and can pretend I have robot legs…
I am definitely keeping an eye on my ankle… I had to miss out a few bits because of it but not many 😊

Ugh terrible women. *whispers* I bet some of them were vegans…
Those are great leggings! Robot legs would be brilliant and very difficult to break. But they might short circuit in the rain. That would be a worry.
Yay ankle! It seems to be holding up well. I’m so pleased it is behaving itself. Unlike its owner, no doubt… 😉

*whispers* almost certainly vegans…
I don’t want my legs to short circuit in the rain…that’s no good for the U.K. at all 😱
Hehehe
My ankle is behaving itself far better than me 😊

I have to join in the appreciation of your leggings, they’re fantastic!!
It sounds like you’ve found the perfect thing to do and it’s got combat in it which is appropriately Warrior Goddess like 😁
Combat based cardio is amazing…..I used to do “traditional” boxing back in the day and I have never experienced anything like it ever in terms of how physically demanding it was….I was super fit at the time too 😊

I think the only thing I have found more demanding than boxing, is kickboxing (real kickboxing not body combat fake kickboxing)
I used to do it a lot but can’t find a club I like at a time and place I can get to!
Thanks, I will pass your appreciation on to the leggings… they will be pleased 🙂
