Actually…it wasn’t a yoke, it was a sort of odd shaped squat bar with dangly down bits on each side but it was the closest I was going to get…
Mind you, before I yoked, I farmers walked! Well…I suppose it was more like a frame carry really, but anyway…I walked up and down carrying 80kg!
There it is… a frame with weights and my feet… I was in the middle though, when I was carrying it…
It was hard on my hands but it was doable…
Apparently the circulation cuts off when I am carrying heavy things…
So that was farmers carry, now back to this yoke business… in the competition I am going to have to carry a yoke with 100kg on it for a distance… this is the hardest thing to simulate with out a proper yoke…
That is what a proper yoke set up lions like…
This is what I had…
I had to lift the strange dangly bar up on my shoulders and the walk out of the rack, onto the runway, turn around and come back…
I practiced the first time with about 30kg on there…it started out well then I crashed the end of the bar into the lat pull down machine…
Despite this I decided to go for another two carries… and I jumped straight in with 80kg plus whatever the bar weighs (probably 15kg maybe 10kg) then did 90kg plus the bar… it was hard work!! But I managed it, now I just need to get better and not crash!
