Janathon 2022: Days 2 & 3

The beginning of January is a strange time, I sort of end up feeling like the year doesn’t actually start until I go back to work. There is probably some sort of deep seated problem with that, and me running my life around work or something, if I decided to explore it… Or it could be that I get more done in general if I have a routine…

Anyway, despite all that I did get exercise done on both days πŸ˜€ I was a day late start ing my YWA move programme but that is not the end of the world, I may catch up down the line, or I may just be a day late. I will still do it, which is the main thing.

So Day 2 was a shed gym day, I paddled down there (literally the ground is very wet) and decided that bench press was the order of the day. Apparently I like training upper body now πŸ˜€ I don’t know when this happened but it has! I even sometimes like it better than deadlifts… sometimes…

I completed 5 x 5 at 45kg which is almost as good as I have ever been at bench press, I think I I have been at the stage where I have added in a set of 2 at 47.5kg before but this is close πŸ™‚ and I have instigated a new policy of not moving up in weight until I can complete the reps with full range of motion every time… so there is a good chance I am actually, technically better than I used to be!

Day 3 was the start of the yoga challenge. Or it was my start of the yoga challenge anyway… I remembered that yoga is hard work and I was marginally cross with myself for neglecting mobility and yoga for so long as I am a long way from where I was! However, being cross doesn’t actually help so I need to move on from that and just accept where I am and move forward. I am doing it now and if I trust the process (as they say) and show up every day, I will improve!

  1. I know what you mean about neglecting mobility and yoga. I’m nowhere near where i was last time I completed one of Adriene’s 30 day yoga journeys (I think it was True in 2018?). I wish I’d started a day late as some days I’d like to do the practice before 10am. It’s not the end of the world though and we are doing it!
Way to go on the upper body workouts πŸ™‚
Can I just say well done on your Strong Woman competition too. I’ve only just caught up on blog reading over the past couple of weeks.
    Take care.
